This is something you should do just for safety sake. Upgrade those headlights, this was something I wanted to do almost from the get go, I’ve followed this dude Marco on instagram who has this awesome mini with some halo’s and I always imagined it’d look cool on the Pao. So once again I took another Friday evening/Saturday morning to give it a stab. This one was a little harder to do than normal because I hadn’t seen anyone else do this.
It’s admittedly a little hard to retroactively explain how I did this but I’ll give it a shot. Essentially what I did was remove the hood and front bumper, and then removed the old headlight housing (I’ll have pictures up above).
Once I did that I realized I’d have to fill a pretty huge gap to make the headlights sit in their hole properly, so I thought maybe I could modify the stock housing. So I heated up the headlight housing in the oven so I was able to remove the glass lens from the front of the headlight (a little risky if you want to be able to go back to the old headlights).
Then I placed the whole halo setup right in there, that’s the trick. Then all I needed to do was use the headlight guard to hold the housing back into place. I put the wiring for the light through the backside of the headlight housing as it was stock. Then I put it all back together again. I took some pictures when I had just replaced one, it looked kind of cool with the mismatch. I forgot to mention I removed the little headlight visor things earlier when I put the housing in the oven. To make them match the car a little more, I got some black automotive paint and painted them black to match. It looks pretty mean.
Personally, I think this upgrade is a lot of bang for your buck, it instantly makes the car a lot more modern, and there are a lot of options out there that work. I went with one that was round 7-inch so it’d fit in the housing and match. You can find a lot of cool options like the ones I installed or, some all black ones, or something that matches the color of your car. These ones turn amber when you signal, that’s pretty cool.
